Pietro Cardin was born in 1922 in San Biagio di Callalta (Venice, Italy). At the age of 2 he arrives in France and grows up in Saint-Etienne.
In 1945 he arrives in Paris and starts working for Paquin and then Schiaparelli. In the same year, he meets Jean Cocteau and Christian Berard, withwhom he designs masks and costumes for their film “La Belle et la Bete” (The Beauty and the Beast).
In 1946, Christian Dior, who has just opened his own Fashion House in Paris, hires him as a tailor.
In 1950 he founds his own company, where he starts designing masks and costumes for theatre.
Ever since then his company has boomed internationally, creating Men’s and Women’s Fashion and Accessories as well as perfume.
